What’s more refreshing than a nice cooling glass of cold tea on a hot summer day! I’m the tea maker for our large family. Every morning
I brew up a large pot of kukicha tea, cool the tea and pour it in a large pitcher and place it in the refrigerator for drinking throughout the day.
Tea is one of the simplest beverages to prepare. We always use loose teas as they are more flavorful, more economical and earth friendly (no tea bag!)
Sometimes the tea is served as is and sometimes I add fresh lemon slices or mint leaves. For a naturally sweet tea, I will add
2 cups of unsweetened organic apple juice. If you enjoy your tea sweetened ~ I recommend adding some organic rice syrup or sweetener of your choice.
1 Tablespoon kukicha tea
4 cups spring water
lemon slices
Fill glass water kettle with spring water and bring water to a boil. Reduce heat to keep a low boil for brewing tea.
Fill tea ball with kukicha tea, place into boiling water and hang by hook on the tea kettle rim. Boil for 5 to 10 minutes depending on desired strength.
Remove kettle from heat and add sweetener If desired. Cool tea, add lemon slices and refrigerate to serve cold.
Variations: For a tasty sweet tea add 2 cups of unsweetened organic apple juice.
TeaCicles: freeze fruit juice sweetened tea in popcicle molds for organic popcicle treat!
